A Seattle based cooking school
Fall just might be the perfect season. It's situated comfortably in summer's afterglow. September's temperatures still climb high enough on occasion to prevent us from putting away our shorts and tanks for good, but also lets us bring out the boots and scarves we've secretly been longing for. Wishbone feels the same way about autumn's food. CSA boxes are still brimming with tomatoes, wax beans, and berries; the fishermen are returning from Alaska with the ocean's bounty of halibut, Coho salmon and ling cod; and arriving on market shelves are some of our personal favorites like chanterelle mushrooms, butternut squash and pumpkin everything. When fall finally relinquishes it's hold on warm afternoons and requests our presence back inside to seek refuge from the chilly rain we grab a pumpkin spiced latte and oblige.
Once indoors there is no better place to gather than around the table for a meal of sublimely roasted carrots, parsnips and apples over a bowl of buttery pappardelle noodles. Or for those of you who have been waiting patiently since February for the return of football, put on a pot of chili and retreat to the basement until you are stirred by the aroma of short ribs mixing with dried chilies, cumin and cilantro.
That's our plan for this Sunday; to succumb to comforts of our sofa and hunker down for a delicious season! Go Hawks!
