"Initially I didn't know what improv was, I just knew that it involved some kind of public speaking." When you do improv and come back to the corporate world, you realize how many small things you thought were important don't matter."
Nithya Venkateswaran, Forbes Magazine, 6/27/2014
Unexpected Productions Improv has been selected as the Pacific Northwest theater for the first ever Contest4improv4humans. improv4humans is a fully improvised weekly podcast, featuring Matt Besser performing with the best improvisers in the world.
First round events are happening in Chicago, Austin, Boston, Atlanta, and more than 12 participating US cities. The winning team will win a trip to New York City this summer to perform at the Del Close Marathon and appear on a live improv4humans episode!
Starting January 28th at 7:00 pm, UP Improv begins qualifying NW rounds for teams of 3-4 improvisers who will do their best improv set in the style of Matt Besser’s podcast improv4humans. (That is, like a podcast; sitting at a table and using one-word suggestions from the audience to inspire scenes). Each team will be videotaped, doing their best 20-minute set.
The best 3 teams are selected, by a panel of judges, and will return to have a final performance (judged by the audience and a panel of judges) to determine the ultimate winner from the Seattle community.
