How I love to paint! I just listened to The Savvy Painter podcast's interview with Carin Canier, and she's so open about the soulful urge to create pictures! I'm definitely a fan of her work which mixes collaged pictures with oainted passages.
An artist whose work I just saw in DC and who blows my mind is Mickalene Thomas. I love how she blends high art with common techniques like collage and craft materials like glitter.

Thank you to Seattle Art Museum for the free tickets they issued my painting students this term. We had an amazing experience studying painting techniques and chromatic schemes directly from the canvases of Old, Modern, and Contemporary Masters.
