The Northwest School Alumni

Even when you are far away, this will always be your Haus.

Hey Alumni, welcome back to your Haus! This is your Facebook base for all things Northwest: find your old friends, discover exciting upcoming events, or just check in on the latest school news (there's a lot going on!). We love to hear from you, so send us a message or an email at alumni@northwestschool.org with updates or any questions you may have.

Today we celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Race is at the forefront of our national dialogue, and its role in our culture and individual lives cannot be overstated. What does it mean to be white? What is the role and responsibility of whiteness in the conversation? How can those who identify as white engage in the work of ending racial inequity so that people of color need not do all the heavy lifting?

Join NWS Humanities teacher, Tamara Bunnell, for an evening dedicated to exploring these questions on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 7:00-8:30 pm, in the Commons. All members of the Northwest School community--parents, students, faculty, and alumni--are invited and encouraged to attend. Though the specific lens of our conversation will be focused on those who identify as white, all voices are welcome and affinity groups will be created as needed or desired.

Another incredible alum came to talk to NWS students.

Raphael Suter '00 works as a character animator at Pixar and has worked on films such as Ratatouille, Wall-E, Up, and Brave. He took some time to chat with our students taking Animation about what it takes to be an animator.

Congrats to Stone Gossard '84 and Pearl Jam for their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction. Still making music after all these years!

Hey east coasters, NWS is coming your way in March! Come tour the Smithsonian in D.C. with MARK TERRY on Saturday, March 4 or catch up with ELLEN TAUSSIG for a drink in NYC on Sunday, March 5. How fun is that? More info and RSVP required at the link below.
